10 Home Remedies to help Boost Immunity & Strengthen your Respiratory System

In today’s blog, I am going to be covering a topic that’s especially relevant for many of us during Winter [Flu] & Spring [allergy] season, and particularly relevant right now with what we are all experiencing based on the global spread of the Coronavirus!

In the first of a series of posts, you will learn how to strengthen your respiratory system, easily using herbs that you can find in your spice cupboard or at a local indian grocery store. The content here should be considered as tips and are not a substitute to address chronic or acute medical issues.

The Respiratory System

The respiratory system is far more vast than you might think. It’s not just your lungs, in fact it includes multiple organs starting up at your nasal cavity and reaching all the way down to your diaphragm.

In the springtime, it’s the allergens in the air that can attack any one or many parts of the respiratory system, which leads to the reactions that many of us experience. When you go to the pharmacy and pick up a box of an antihistamine, you get relief from the symptoms, but the underlying susceptibility remains… and over a period of several allergy seasons, by addressing only the symptoms, your ability to fight the allergens can reduce…

When our respiratory system’s ability to fight pollutants is getting weaker, it means we are also more susceptible to viral infections like the flu or COVID-19. Obviously, you cannot live without a well functioning respiratory system, and the stronger it is, the better. The home remedies here will be a step in the right direction to help make it stronger.

Keep in mind that the best results will be realized when action is taken at the early signs of the symptoms… should you not see benefits within a few days, and if symptoms escalate, then seeing a specialist is likely the best course of action. Adopting the below remedies for 4-6 weeks at a time should not be a problem in most cases.

The Herbs

Todays herbs are Pippali (Piper Longum), Ginger and Black Pepper.
