Allergic rhinitis, often triggered by pollen, dust, and other allergens, can disrupt our daily lives with symptoms like sneezing, congestion, and itchy eyes. But there’s hope beyond conventional treatments. In this article we will explain the causes, the Ayurvedic perspective, offer several detailed home remedy ideas and also suggest lifestyle adjustments that can help deal with allergic rhinitis!
Causes of Allergic Rhinitis
✅ Aggravation of Kapha and Vata Doshas: Imbalances in these doshas due to dietary habits and environmental factors lead to symptoms.
✅ Ama (Toxins) Accumulation: Poor digestion can lead to the buildup of toxins, contributing to allergic reactions.
✅ Dietary Triggers: Consuming cold, dry, or incompatible foods can exacerbate symptoms.
✅ Environmental Factors: Exposure to pollen, dust, and other allergens can trigger allergic rhinitis.
The Ayurvedic Perspective
Ayurveda sees allergic rhinitis as an imbalance of the body’s doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The symptoms you experience may vary depending on your dominant dosha:
🔵 Vata: This dosha is characterized by variability and lightness. Imbalance may lead to dry coughs and wheezing.
🟠 Pitta: For fiery Pitta types, allergic rhinitis can cause inflammation and irritation in the sinuses.
🟢 Kapha: Kapha’s lean towards heaviness and slowness and this leads to congestion and a heavy feeling in the head.
